About Us

Award History

The Greenfield Everyday Heroes Award was created in 1995, and is awarded to a graduating senior who has shown the courage and character to have achieved success regardless of the barriers and obstacles placed in front of them. These barriers and obstacles come in all forms: homelessness, serious physical or mental illness, incarcerated parents, abuse, or other extreme hardships.

We recognize and celebrate these students, who exemplify the triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Each has their own story of how they overcame their adversity to achieve success. They are role models, who also give back to their community. They are going off to college, often the first in their families to do so, with the grit and perseverance it takes to overcome the tough cards they were dealt in life.

In 2000, Greenfield Everyday Heroes Foundation became a 501(c) 3 private foundation. Seven high schools were initially part of the gifting, as were other charitable organizations that support children who are going through challenging situations. Greenfield Everyday Heroes Foundation is currently supporting students at a number of high schools in the Northeast. We work closely with the guidance counselors at each high school and accept applications for the Greenfield Everyday Heroes Award each year. We then review the applications, interview the few that fit the requirements, and then select the winners. We have highlighted some of the many success stories on our site, and invite you to learn more about these inspirational kids.
